watercolor eyes

If you want to paint watercolor portraits… you must practice, observe and experiment.

Here is a study I did from magazine photos to help me practice my skill, understand the forms and shapes within the eye, and experiment with color.  I painted the eye quite large so that I could see and describe it in detail.  In the coming weeks I’ll be posting more of my studies to inspire you to try for yourself.  Remember you can only truly learn by hands-on practice, observation and experimentation.
If you have questions or comments please let me know.

Check out March, 2010, in my archives for more information on drawing the eye.
