Paper: Artist -grade cold-press paper, 140 lb. (Stretched preferred) or 300 lb. And/or pad of watercolor paper ( at least 12” x 18”size)
I recommend Arches brand paper. Be prepared with extra paper for small practice studies. Brushes: Round synthetic or sable: #2, #6, #10, #14, and #26 (or larger) round I like Robert Simmons white sable brushes. They are inexpensive and extremely easy to work with.
Palette: Large Professional palette with areas for mixing colors. Mine is a Robert E. Wood palette. Paints:
Essential: Cadmium Lemon or Winsor Lemon Cadmium Yellow Medium or Winsor Yellow Cadmium Red Light Permanent Rose Thalo Blue or Winsor Blue (green shade) Cobalt Blue French Ultramarine Blue Optional: Winsor Orange Alizarin Crimson Winsor Dioxazine Violet Thalo Yellow Green (Grumbacher), or Skip’s Green (Cheap joe’s) Winsor Green (blue shade) Quinacridone: Gold, Coral, Rose, Red, Magenta, Violet Cobalt Turquoise Cerulean Blue Cobalt Violet
