Mendocino Workshops are coming up!

My Mendocino Spring and Summer Workshops are coming up!

Workshop Dates:  March 22 – 24 (Fri, Sat & Sun)
                                     June 24 – 28     (Mon – Fri)

Workshop Description
In addition to mixing color on the palette and mingling color on paper, Jeannie will teach you how to mix color in layers. This style of painting she calls “Rainbow Glazing©.”

With the use of a limited color scheme (sometimes only three transparent staining hues), you will learn to paint juicy beautiful washes in pure color. Each layer modifies the last, changing the color but retaining a multi-leveled glow.

The method takes some time to understand and attain, but the results are stunning and unusual. The visual effects of glazing are revealed in an unusual feeling of depth of color rather than a flat color. It’s quite a beautiful affect and Jeannie loves to share the secrets with her students.

Any subject matter is fair game! Beginner through advanced artists will love this workshop and gain new knowledge and skill.

You can register through the Mendocino Art Center:  http://www.mendocinoartcenter.org/Spring13/Vodden.html

Lodi Watercolor Workshop – January 21 – 23, 2011

This workshop is full.  If you are interested in another workshop in Lodi, please contact me at:   jeannie@jeannievodden.com

I’ve already got sign-ups for my workshop in Lodi.  And, I just posted it!   I’m thrilled that so many students are eager for more classes and workshops.

In this class we’ll have three days to focus on honing watercolor skills.  Subject matter will be open and students will be encouraged to focus on their own area of interest.  So far, those who have signed up are interested in portraits, animals and exploring sunlight. I’ll be sharing my basic limited palette and glazing techniques on simple objects and abstract shapes, as well as working on a portrait.  As usual, I will spend a lot of my time helping students with their individual challenges, while guiding the whole class on the basics of color theory, composition and technique. Students are encouraged to come prepared with an idea, photos, and a drawing so that most of their time will be spent painting.  Tracing and projecting, as well as direct drawing will be fine, depending on student’s ability and preferences.

The workshop is scheduled for January 21 – 23, 2011, from 10am – 4pm.  See my classes and events page for more info.

Sign up soon!  Class size is limited.

What a great way to start the new year!   Three days to paint, away from normal stresses and routines of daily life…  Hope to see you there.
