A new painting to show you

This painting is of one of my twin grandsons, Aiden…. Newly completed.

For this painting I used Permanent Rose, Winsor Orange, Winsor Yellow, Winsor Blue Green Shade, and Winsor Dioxazine Violet.

I love the tall beach grasses, the warmth of Aiden’s orange hood and his jacket, the wind blowing, his red cheeks contrasting with the chilly feel of his surroundings.

Here is “Pink Hydrangea” again. I’ve added just a bit more detail and re-photographed it. This one is more true to the actual color in the painting. So, now it’s really finished.

I’ve loved this painting from the very beginning.

My goal was to keep it looking fresh and colorful. Staying in the green, blue, pink range, I used subtle changes of hue in each area to achieve a luminescent glow, trying to keep a light and airy look.

My paintings take quite awhile to finish as I use many layers of color, picking from my favorite transparent staining watercolor hues.

2012 Class Schedule

Coming up in May of 2012.

On May 4th and 5th I will be teaching a two-day workshop in Tiburon, CA

“Transparent Layers in Watercolor”

A class for beginning through advanced painters

A two-day watercolor workshop designed to teach you her basic watercolor techniques, limited color schemes and layering methods.

During the class you will also learn about creating the illusion of volume, about reflected light, and adding extra color to create luminescence.

Watercolor demonstrations, class discussions and one on one instruction are always part of Jeannie’s classes.

Students are encouraged to bring their own photos to work from in any subject they enjoy. Also, Jeannie will provide a drawing template and photo for those who would like to follow along with her as she demonstrates.

Jeannie will have handouts, color and instructional charts for sale, as well as prints and cards.
